Our goal is to get many middle school and high school runners TOGETHER for their summer training.
To create an Island-wide group of the most dedicated athletes to stay consistent and put in solid distance work over the summer so they show up truly ready for the fall.

We have permits at different parks, with an easier registration than past years! One price for as many or as few runs per week as you’d like. 2-3 runs per week is recommended.

Commit to a training program on some of the best parks on Long Island, and make some new friends in the process.

This program is for motivated boys and girls interested in distance running, entering grades 6 - 12. Not just cross country runners - soccer, lacrosse, and basketball players could benefit from this program as well. An athlete’s fitness and ability to run is often a deciding factor when trying out for a fall team. Please note that kids doing this program should be able to run a minimum of three miles without stopping. If kids are not able to keep up with moderate distance run they may be asked to

Running in Groups Beats Running Solo

Groups will be formed by abilities and goals, and runners will be assigned different routes each week and a prescribed pace, led by an experienced collegiate runner. We will make sure there is a proper warmup and cooldown, plenty of stretching and drills, and that things are kept interesting with different goals each week.

Maybe your high school team meets twice per week over the summer already - what about the other days of the week? Maybe you plan on doing a weeklong camp - what about the other weeks of the summer? Make a commitment to your fall season and Run With Us when you can. It’ll be much better than running by yourself.

No Racing, No Burnout, No Injuries. Just keeping your training consistent and FUN.

Here are the two options for Summer Distance Training:

TRAINING PROGRAM - 5 weeks long, 25 dates total.

Starts Sunday, July 6th and ends Thursday, August 7th.
Full calendar with times, etc will be emailed to registered summer runners.

Sunday mornings: West Hills Park - hill workouts
Monday evenings: Belmont Lake - easy distance
Tuesday evenings: Hempstead Lake - easy distance
Wednesday evenings: West Hills Park - hill workouts
Thursday evenings: Hempstead Lake - easy distance
Friday mornings: HHH HS East - 800m repeats (new for 2025)

There will also be a few pop-up dates that will be emailed to the summer runners, at least 48 hours in advance, to add to their calendars.

also an option to register for any three days

New for 2025 - Three different weeks of Intensives!

Week 1: Belmont Lake State Park: Sunday July 27th - Thursday July 31st
Week 2: Hempstead Lake State Park: Sunday August 3rd - Thursday August 7th
Week 3: West Hills Park: Sunday August 11th - Thursday August 15th.

Easy Group Runs, Breakout Info Sessions, Easy Workouts, Cross Training.
Breakout sessions will cover diet, sleep, race strategies, goal setting, keeping a running log, establishing routines, etc. Talks will be led by NCAA Athletes and HS Coaches.

We recommend only doing one Distance Intensive over the summer and supplementing it with several weeks of our Training Program.

All those who sign up for any part of the Distance Training Program will receive a pair of navy running shorts with the Fun Runners Logo - available in shorter and longer lengths.
