A KID-CENTERED, FRIENDLY, LOW-INTENSITY RUNNING PROGRAM

As high school teachers and coaches, Kevin Beirne and Brian Hayes have worked with hundreds of kids over more than 30 combined years of teaching and coaching. In 2017 they wanted to promote fitness in young kids by introducing them to the great sport of running, and Long Island Fun Runners was created.

As teachers and parents, we are interested in educating and Motivating and inspiring your kids.

While we have coached high-performing, successful high school athletes over the years, our greatest reward has been seeing the many benefits that come to kids who are involved in running, no matter how fast they are - self esteem, a good work ethic, and a sense of belonging to a community of runners.

OUR MISSION

We want to see more kids comfortable with the gym class mile when they get to high school. We want kids to take up personal challenges like running races and just being overall healthy people. We want to help kids establish good habits of exercise in these formative years. We even want to see some Fun Runners become successful cross country and track and field athletes!

The landscape of youth athletics has changed greatly over time - it has increasingly become specialized, intense, and expensive. Our goal is to offer something Easy and Fun, at a great value.

Long Island Fun Runners doesn’t guarantee your child will get a full athletic scholarship to an Ivy League school. We’re not even saying that your child has to become a serious track and field athlete. But we are guaranteeing that your child will get stronger and faster and have fun with us by working with us in our program.
